The master electricians and design-build professionals at Harrington Electric are in high demand lately to assist with installation and providing critical power for new machinery and production lines at a number of customer factories, warehouses and distribution centers throughout the region.

It’s been noted that if every household in the U.S. swapped just one incandescent light bulb for an energy efficient light bulb, the reduction in pollution would be equal to 1.3 million fewer cars on the road. Using less electricity means reducing the amount of energy needed from power plants, thereby reducing the burning of fossil fuels and the subsequent carbon emissions that harm the environment. And with the ever-increasing cost of energy on the commercial side, businesses are doing everything possible to reduce what is literally an overhead expense.

Our SmartLite LED lighting retrofit division, which we launched nearly a year ago, has seen success on a level that we never dreamed was possible. With customers saving an average of 50% on the cost of energy, (and with inflation affecting the cost of doing business at unprecedented levels), this service is fast becoming a “no-brainer” decision for building owners and facility managers trying to cut costs.

As the population ages and veteran electricians head toward retirement, not enough qualified professionals are stepping in to fill their shoes. Harrington Electric is constantly on the hunt for experienced electricians, electrical estimators, project managers, field personnel and voice-data-video professionals who can contribute to a growing organization that cares as much for its customers as it does providing superior service.

The incredible rise in electric vehicle sales tells us that EVs are no longer viewed as a novelty. As just about every domestic auto manufacturer races to ramp up their electric vehicle production line to feed the demand, the need for EV charging stations is so high that federal, state and local governments are willing to provide grant-based funding to any business with an interest in installing an EV charging station at its facility. Even fast food companies are racing to install charging stations in their parking lots.

Predicting this demand more than a year ago, Harrington Electric became one of the area’s first electrical contractors to register for and achieve Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) certification for our electricians, which enables us to work closely with businesses and institutions that are interested in planning and installing electric charging stations on both the commercial and residential levels.
