It’s been a busy summer for the Harrington Electric team assigned to several improvement projects on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. As the school has implemented several renovation projects designed to safeguard the campus while providing enhanced comfort and improved environments for students, faculty and staff, it turned to Harrington to help complete the work.

Here are the projects that have kept the Harrington team so busy over the past three months:

New EV Charging Stations – The team installed and powered two charging stations for electric vehicles that has been made available to students and staff. The “Blink” EV charging stations offer drivers an on-campus convenience while providing an additional revenue stream for the University.

Efficient LED Lighting Retrofit – The switch to highly efficient LED lighting inside the three-story Ritter Library will save BW both money and energy by reducing overall consumption while providing vastly improved lighting. The team also replaced older HID light fixtures with new high-power LED sports lights at the tennis courts on campus.

New Fire Safety Doors – Inside Kliest Hall, new rolling fire and smoke containment doors have been installed and powered up to provide enhanced safety and security to individuals utilizing the Arts and Drama building.

Transformer Repair and Replacement – As electrical distribution equipment ages, anomalies develop.  Sometimes they can be repaired, and sometimes replacement is necessary.  For this project, Harrington handled the repair of one utility transformer for the Center for Innovation & Growth, and the replacement of a utility transformer for the Packard Athletic Center.

New Generator Installation – Harrington replaced a natural gas emergency generator at the BWU Safety and Security Building.

Power Provisions for Future Air Conditioning Improvements in Dormitories – Harrington installed a new transformer and 480V outdoor switchgear to provide power for air conditioning upgrades at several of the dormitories on campus.

Harrington Electric’s president, Tom Morgan, oversaw these Summer projects and commented on various aspects of the work.  “The University has made a host of smart improvements that will affect many people on campus as they head into the new school year,” he pointed out.  “These upgrades address aging systems often needing repair, with new efficient equipment that will operate trouble-free for years to come.”

Harrington Electric is very appreciative to Baldwin Wallace University for allowing our team to assist in improving the quality of life for students, faculty and staff on campus.
